The Cape Fear EMS Foundation has proudly awarded its first Continuing Education (CE) Scholarship to Leeann Ward, a dedicated Advanced EMT from New Hanover County. Leeann is currently balancing full-time work in a 911 emergency system with her studies in the Paramedic program at Brunswick Community College. Her determination to advance her skills while serving her community embodies the spirit of this scholarship.

Leeann Ward’s Journey to Paramedic Certification

Leeann’s story is one of commitment and resilience. Working full-time as an Advanced EMT in the Cape Fear region, she faces the challenges of emergency medical services daily. Despite demanding shifts and the emotional toll of frontline care, she has chosen to pursue further education to become a paramedic.

Her enrollment at Brunswick Community College’s Paramedic program is a significant step. Paramedic training involves advanced medical knowledge, critical decision-making skills, and hands-on clinical experience. Leeann’s ability to manage both work and study highlights her dedication to improving patient care in her community.

How the Scholarship Supports EMS Professionals

The scholarship covers tuition and related expenses for EMS personnel enrolled in accredited continuing education programs. This support reduces financial barriers, allowing recipients to focus on their studies and clinical training.

For Leeann, the scholarship means less financial stress and more time to dedicate to mastering paramedic skills. It also recognizes her hard work and commitment, encouraging her to continue striving toward her goal.

Encouraging Others to Apply

Applications for the Continuing Education Scholarship remain open for residents of New Hanover, Brunswick, Columbus, and Pender counties. The foundation encourages EMS workers in these areas to apply and take advantage of this opportunity.
